For years, my sleep schedule has been inconsistent. Staying up late scrolling through my phone, eating at irregular hours, and failing to wind down properly has left me feeling drained during the day. I decided to fix this by establishing a more structured night routine.
I saw a study, investigating the use of light-emitting electronic devices (like eBooks) before bedtime on sleep, compared to a printed book in dim light, focusing on biological effects like circadian timing or sleep quality.
And overall, the study suggests that using light-emitting devices before bedtime can disrupt the natural circadian rhythm, leading to poorer sleep quality and reduced alertness the next day, potentially leading to other health issues.
Therefore, as an attempt to fix my sleep schedule, I tried my best to limit my usage of any electronic devices when it is close to bedtime. However, this is a hard challenge, as I often spend some time with my iPad/iPhone especially late at night.
The main problem that I found was in my time management. I usually delegate my tasks and ended up doing everything late at night, this left me a little leisure time at night, and I ultimately sacrificed my sleep time in order to play with my friends, or scroll through social media.
Therefore, what I had recently been trying to do is to keep a cycle of starting tasks earlier, so that I have enough leisure time at night to be satisfied and be able to go to bed earlier.
